The 10 most read stories on TheJournal.ie this year

The general election, shootings in Dublin, Pat Hickey – these are the stories you read this year.

THE LIST OF the most-read stories on TheJournal.ie throws up some interesting nuggets every year, and 2016 was no exception.

The focus this year was almost entirely on breaking news – the attacks on Brussels and the Florida gay nightclub, Dublin drug gang-related killings, and the general election.

Interestingly the two most seismic political events of the year, the Brexit referendum and the triumph of Donald Trump in the US general election, did not make an appearance in the ten.
