THIS WEEK WE are checking out a gadget that is perfect for the colder months and keeping your tush toasty.
If your car or van doesn’t have heated seats you can now add your own and make those chilly winter drives a bit more comfortable.
What is it?
This is the Heyner 12V heated car seat cover, which you can get for about €48 including postage. It is made from extra soft hard wearing cotton and polyester and features ‘new carbon heating technology’, apparently.
It is a universal fit with an approximate size of 115cm x 55cm and it comes with a 1.4m power cable.
What does it do?
You fit the cover over your car seat, plug it into a 12v socket, and when you start the car the seat cover heats up. Simples really. It has three settings – high, low and off – and it comes with a headrest and steering wheel cover. (However, these do not heat up).
Can I check it out in action?
We couldn’t find any videos of this exact model, however, we did find this video demonstrating the very similar product by a different brand. It just gives you an idea of how they work.
Why would I want it?
Heated seats are one of my favourite things in cars. They aren’t just for warming up your delicate cold buns on frosty November mornings, but they are great for helping keep back muscles relaxed on long drives.
As heated seats are in direct contact with your body you warm up faster than using the heater. And if you hate using the air-con, heated seats are great at providing enough warmth so you don’t have to have hot air circulating through the cabin.
