Ammunition seized during bomb scare in Louth house

A significant quantity of firearms, and equipment commonly found in bomb timers, is discovered in Clogherhead.

ARMY BOMB DISPOSAL operatives have seized a quantity of ammunition from a house in Clogherhead, Co Louth following a bomb scare there yesterday evening.

The Army Bomb Disposal Team was called to the house at around 8:30pm when fears were raised that the house could have contained explosives, though no such materials were found there.

While on site the team seized ammunition of varying calibres, as well as a ‘small quantity’ of components which could be used in creating timing units for explosive devices.

Houses nearby were evacuated for some hours during the operation, which ended just after 11pm last night.
