These guys have been ripping an Apple Watch to pieces so you don't have to

One journalist has described the process as being like ‘an awesome Super Bowl halftime show for nerds’…

THE APPLE WATCH has gone on sale today, and an awful lot of people around the globe are currently strutting about the place proudly sporting the next generation of wrist-candy.

A watch is not just something to be worn for everyone though.

Internet tech-fix people iFixit have been having a whale of a time ripping one apart to see, quite literally, what makes it tick.

They’ve been live-tweeting the experience while they’re at it.

A joyous experience for those of a more techy mindset.

So, what kind of things have they discovered underneath the watch’s hood, so to speak?

Well, apparently the heart rate sensor may be able to measure your blood oxygen levels for starters. Which is a bit mad.

Perhaps more crucially, the difficulty iFixit have encountered in removing the watch’s chips suggests that upgrades may not be in the applicance’s future.

We’ll just have to hold out for the next generation so. But spare a thought for those among us who bought the $17,000 version.

Anyway, here’s a video review of the whole ‘teardown’ from start to finish:
