Update: Body recovered after car enters water in Arklow

The body of the man was recovered after it washed up on a nearby beach. A woman was taken from the vehicle earlier this morning and is being treated in hospital.

THE BODY OF a male has been recovered after a car containing a man and a woman drove off Arklow pier and entered the water early this morning.

A spokesperson from the Garda Press Office told TheJournal.ie that the man’s body was located after it washed up on the beach nearby.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at approximately 6am this morning.

A women was recovered from the car shortly afterwards and was taken to St Columcille’s Hospital in Loughlinstown, Co Dublin for treatment.

Emergency services continued their search for the man throughout the morning.
