TWO MEN ARMED with sawn-off shotguns escaped with a sum of cash after a robbery at a petrol service station in Cork this afternoon.

Gardaí are investigating the incident in which the raiders stole cash destined for the station’s ATM from two security employees.

Two employees of the cash-in-transit company entered the service station at Carr’s Hill in Carragline with a sum of money for the ATM at around 4.30pm.

Shortly afterwards, two men wearing balaclavas and armed with sawn-off shotguns entered the station and threatened the security employees.

The armed raiders fled the scene with a sum of cash. A black Saab car used in the escape was later found burnt out at Ballinora in Ballincollig, Cork.

No shots were fired and no-one was injured during the raid.

Gardaí have asked anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have seen the black Saab acting suspiciously earlier in the day to contact them at Togher Garda station on 021 4947120, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
