Man arrested over €4 million investment fraud investigation

The man was arrested after a house in Co Leitrim was searched this morning.

A MAN IN his late forties has been arrested as part of investigation into €4 million investment fraud.

Gardaí said today they have arrested man (49) following a search of a house in County Leitrim this morning.

They said the man’s arrest follows an ongoing investigation by the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation – assisted by the Criminal Assets Bureau – into a €4million investment fraud, and related money laundering.

As part of this investigation, the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation has frozen a significant amount of monies held in various bank accounts.

The arrested man is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Carrick-on-Shannon Garda Station. Investigations are ongoing, said gardaí.
