Three people charged after large amount of cash stolen from Athlone shop

Two men and a woman were arrested in Co Offaly.

THREE PEOPLE HAVE been charged in connection with a burglary at a shop in Athlone, county Westmeath on Sunday evening.

Two men, aged 21 and 49 years, and a woman (22) were charged last night.

They are due to appear before Mullingar District Court at 10.30am today.

A large amount of cash was taken during the burglary.

The younger man and woman were arrested on Tuesday in the Clara area of county Offaly. The second man was arrested yesterday, also in the Clara area.

All three are being detained at Athlone garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardaí say they have “recovered a substantial amount of cash during this investigation”.

Comments are closed as the case is before the courts.
