Father of Offaly quadruplets told to 'get used to no sleep...but it will be worth it'

The couple from Kilclonfert in Offaly welcomed the quads into the world on Saturday afternoon.

THE MOTHER WHO gave birth to quadruplet boys over the weekend is said to be keeping well and ‘in good form’.

The four brothers were born on Saturday afternoon at the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin.

The were all delivered between 12.17pm and 12:30pm after a Cesarean section.

The boys have been named Tom (2 pound 5 ounces), James (1 pound 9), Charlie (2 pound 8) and Luke (2 pound 7).

Speaking to Ray D’Arcy on RTÉ Radio 1 – the father of the quadruplets, David, said his wife Anita was doing well, ”She’s in good form. She’s keeping well.”

When told that there’s only a 1 in 700,000 chance of having quadruplets naturally without the use of IVF, he said, “I’m a rare breed aren’t I.” David added that his mother and his wife’s mother were both twins.

The couple have another child, one-year-old Mathew, who has become a big brother to four in one short weekend.

Another father of quadruplets, James Slattery, had this advice for David:

Get used to no sleep…you’re gonna be up all night. It will be tough but it will be worth it.

“We’re 9 months in and we’re getting 6 hours sleep a night now so we’re doing pretty well.”

Don’t worry guys- there will be some laughs in there too, remember these babies:
