DUBLIN FIRE BRIGADE were called to reports of a large fire at Grand Canal Dock in the early hours of this morning.

Three pumps were sent at around 3.20am to Charlotte Quay dock in Ringsend where a barge in flames was discovered. They extinguished the fire and ascertained that no one had been on board at the time and there had been no injuries.

The boat was seriously damaged in the fire and gardaí have preserved the scene.

They are making inquiries today to establish the owner of the boat and looking at what may have caused the blaze.
