Beach-goers warned not to swim at twelve Dublin beaches

It may not have entered your mind given the weather lately, but avoid the water at some Fingal beaches.

GIVEN THE LESS-THAN-GREAT weather lately, it probably hadn’t crossed your mind anyway – but one local authority in Dublin is warning beach-goers to stay out of the water.

Fingal County Council has issued a warning for 12 beaches across North County Dublin advising people not to swim in the sea.

The council said that pump station overflow caused by recent bad weather had affected the water at the beaches.

The council said it had been taking samples of the water every week during the most popular months for swimming.

The beaches affected are:

  • Balbriggan
  • Loughshinny
  • Skerries north
  • Skerries south
  • Balcarrick
  • The Brook
  • Tower Bay
  • Malahide
  • Velvet Strand
  • The Burrow
  • Claremont
  • Hampton Cove

Notices have been placed at all the beaches to let bathers know about the warning, which is expected to last for three days.

I am really looking forward to seeing Dad tomorrow, except on What’sApp video I haven’t seen him since 6th March, this is the longest we have ever been apart.

@Brianán McBride: I’m getting to see my mum on Wednesday – first time since late February as her nursing home locked down really early. Feels so long ago now. Hope your visit is brilliant Brianan & that your dad stays well xx

Of course not all nursing homes are interpreting the changes in the same way. The one my dad is in is still only doing window visits and even next week it is a single person as the nominated contact who may get in subject to whatever management decide this week. Not easy.
