PSNI officers hospitalised following Belfast rioting

The violence began following a Loyalist protest to Republican anti-internment march.

TWO POLICE OFFICERS have been injured and taken to hospital following disturbances in Belfast city this evening.

The violence occurred in the Royal Avenue and North Street of the city with water canon and plastic bullets deployed by police as they continue to deal with the situation.

The PSNI are urging members of the public to avoid these areas of the city due to the violence.

The clashes came as Loyalist groups were protesting against a Republican anti-internment march which began in the north of the city at 6pm.
