Meet the world's fastest four-seat car: Bentley's new Continental Supersports

This is the fastest and most powerful Bentley production model to date.

THIS IS THE new Continental Supersports and Bentley is claiming it is the fastest four-seater in the world.

Sitting at the top of the Continental range this new model is powered by an overhauled version of Bentley’s mighty W12 engine, which sees it get new higher-capacity turbochargers and a revised charge-air cooling system, which together create more boost and additional power. This new model also gets a new torque vectoring system which locks up faster making this car agile as well as powerful.

That 6.0-litre W12 produces 710hp and a massive 1,017Nm of torque and helps propel the car from standing to 100km/h in a staggering 3.5 seconds and on to a blistering top speed of 336km/h.

The soft-top version also claims to be the fastest four-seat convertible in the world with a 0-100km/h time of just 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 330km/h.

Tweaks to the exterior styling help give the Supersports a sharpened athletic appearance and changes include new front and rear bumper designs incorporating a carbon-fibre splitter and diffuser respectively, new side sill extensions and carbon-fibre bonnet vents and gloss-black front wing vents.

To handle all that power there are new high-performance carbon ceramic brakes with enhanced cooling. These brake discs are the largest of their type in the world and sit behind 21-inch forged alloy wheels.

The exhaust system has also been redesigned and features a gloss-black, rifled exhaust tailpipe that provides a glorious Bentley soundtrack, with down-shifts eliciting a rifle-fire crackle. Nice.
