Bertie Ahern assaulted by man with a crutch in Dublin pub

The man who attacked the former Taoiseach was arrested by gardaí.

THE FORMER TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern was the victim of an assault yesterday evening in Dublin’s city centre.

Altercation

It’s believed Ahern was attending a retirement party of a friend in the Sean O’Casey pub just off O’Connell Street, when a man wielding a crutch attacked the politician.

It is understood that gardaí were called to the scene of the altercation and that a man was subsequently arrested.

It is believed the former Taoiseach remained in the pub after the incident.

The gardaí could not confirm if the man had been released stating they do not comment on incidents that involve named individuals.
