TODAY IS NOT just any normal Friday, at least not if you have the bargain-hunter gene. It’s Black Friday, a landmark calendar event for shoppers worldwide.

What started as a chance for US retailers to make the most of the day-after-Thanksgiving lull has become a global shopping phenomenon, with massively discounted items on sale from millions of brands worldwide, including plenty of Irish retailers.

So what’s on offer if you’re shopping from Ireland? Here’s our pick of the best deals so far. We’ll be updating all throughout the day, so be sure to check back.

1. Department stores/superstores

Arnotts

As part of the Arnotts Christmas Mega Event, get 20 per cent off ‘almost everything’ in store and online, including fashion, homewares, gifts, accessories and electrical. The deal includes some great premium brands like Kiehl’s,  Nespresso, Barbour and DeLonghi.

Aldo

Get 20 per cent off full-priced shoes online and in stores until midnight on Monday November 27 as a Black Friday Weekend exclusive. Discount applied at checkout for eligible products.

Eason

There’s 25 per cent off ‘everything’ online at Eason.ie all weekend long. Exclusions apply but it does include a massive range of bestselling books, gifts, toys, games, DVDs and pop culture items.

Brown Thomas

As part of its Christmas Comes Early sale, BT has 20% off ‘almost everything’ in store and online today. As the ‘almost’ implies, there are some exclusions, including SS18 ranges, beauty and fragrance and Nespresso.

Mothercare

Mothercare Ireland kicked off Black Friday sales mid-week with up to 60 per cent off selected lines. This Camberley cot for €174.99, down from €349.99 is a winner for any expectant parents.

Debenhams

Debenhams has been running massive discounts across cosmetics, clothing, homewares and kitchenwares all week long as part of its Black Friday sale, with plenty of brands currently 50% off.

Smyths

The Irish toy superstore is offering €6 off when you spend €50 or more with the code BF6, and €12 off if you spend €100 or more with the code BF12. Plus plenty of individual discounts, like this Disney Frozen bike for €99.99, down from €149.99.

2. Online-only retailers

TheTaste.ie

TheTaste.ie already offers plenty in the way of hotel offers and meal deals, but today you’ll get an extra 10 per cent off by entering the code BLACKFRIDAY17 at checkout. Check out thetaste.ie now for great deals from Rustic Stone, Pichet, Saba, the Fitzwilliam Hotel and more.

Ryanair

From today until midnight on November 26, get up to 20 per cent off five million seats on ryanair.com, for travel from December 1, 2017 – April 30, 2018. Selected routes only, including London Gatwick, Amsterdam, Barcelona and more.

ASOS

Get 20 per cent off everything on ASOS from today until Monday by using the code WIN20 at checkout.

Missguided

Until midnight on Sunday November 26, clothing retailer Missguided is offering 50 per cent off everything with the code CYBER50 at checkout. Sale items excluded.

Littlewoods

The homewares and clothing retailer has sales of up to 30% across all departments, including this V By Very sequinned jacket for €40, down from €58. As always there’s free four-day delivery.

MyProtein

Hive Home
