Body of man found by hillwalker on Carrauntoohil

A post-mortem is due to take place and the local coroner has been notified.

A HILLWALKER DISCOVERED the body of a man on Carrauntoohil this evening.

Gardaí said the man, who is believed to be aged in his 50s, was found at about 5.30pm.

He was taken by Coastguard helicopter to Kerry General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The local coroner was notified and a post mortem is due to take place.

At this point, foul play is not believed to be suspected.
