A BODY FOUND found in Cork City has been confirmed by gardaí to be missing Cork teenager Caolan Mulrooney.

His body was discovered at around 10am this morning at the rear of a premises on Douglas St.

Nineteen-year-old Caolan, from Rochestown, was last seen on CCTV in the early hours of Friday morning, 2 December, at the top of nearby Dean St and Fort St.

A post-mortem will be carried out tomorrow in order to ascertain the cause of death.

Gardaí are not considering his death as suspicious, and it is believed it may have been a tragic accident that occurred while he was walking home in the early hours of Friday morning.

A huge search effort was launched after Caolan was declared missing, with hundreds of people – including students from University College Cork, where he was a first-year student – taking part.

Yesterday, his father paid tribute to those who helped search for his son.

Caolan was last seen after a night out with friends. He was captured on CCTV at 1.20am in the Dean St/Fort St area.
