Body found in slurry pit is that of missing man Diarmuid Twomey

The remains were discovered yesterday.

THE BODY FOUND in a slurry pit in Cork is that of missing man Diarmuid Twomey.

Gardaí confirmed today that the body which was recovered from a slurry pit yesterday on a farm in the Whitechurch area of Co Cork was that of Twomey, who had been missing since since Sunday, 20 December 2015.

Twomey was identified through his dental records.

A post-mortem was due to take place today of the body.

Gardaí do not suspect that foul play was involved at this time.

It is understood that there are investigations ongoing into whether Twomey’s death was a tragic accident.

Missing

Twomey (31) was last seen near Fairhill, Gurranabraher in Cork at 3am on Sunday, 20 December.

His mobile phone was later found outside a house at Ballynahina at about 11.30am later that day.

The discovery of the body was made on a farm in the Whitechurch area of Co Cork shortly before 5pm yesterday evening.

Gardaí from Gurranabraher and emergency services attended the scene at Rahaniskey.

The area was sealed off for the investigation and Twomey’s body was removed to Cork University Hospital.
