Body of missing person found in River Lee

The Naval Service recovered the body of the as-yet unnamed man yesterday evening.

THE BODY OF a missing man was recovered by a Naval Service dive team from the River Lee in Cork city last night.

Gardaí have not yet released the name of the man or said for how long he has been missing.

Gardaí contacted the Naval Service yesterday who deployed a team in response to the River Lee.

The team arrived on scene at 3pm and commenced a diving operation in the vicinity of the city’s Thomas Davis Bridge.

The team searched the area for three hours.

The body of a deceased male was recovered at approximately 6pm, and his remains have been brought to Cork University Hospital.
