Bonjour Monsieur le Président: Bono (and Bill Gates) meet Francois Hollande

The three discussed poverty and development at a meeting at the Élysée Palace today.

A BILLIONAIRE, A musician, and a socialist walk into a Palace…

Three of the most powerful men in their respective fields met in Paris today to discuss issues around poverty and development.

Bono and Bill Gates met French president Francois Hollande at the Élysée Palace to talk about humanitarian issues in a meeting lasting around 45 minutes.

Afterwards Bono, who is the co-founder of non-governmental organisation ONE, thanked Hollande and the French people for supporting the fight against poverty worldwide, despite the ongoing economic difficulties.

In a statement, the Élysée Palace said that the meeting had focused on the need for financing development, particularly through the implementation of a financial transactions tax.
