Six-year-old boy knocked down and killed in Kilkenny housing estate

The young child was in a housing estate on the outskirts of the city.

A SIX-YEAR-OLD boy was knocked down and killed at a Kilkenny housing estate this evening.

The young child was struck by a car at Lintown Grove in Lintown Hall, which is located on the outskirts of the city.

The incident occured at about 6.30pm today.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 40s, was not injured in the collision.

The boy was brought to St Luke’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A post mortem exam will be carried out tomorrow.

The road has been closed for forensic tests and an appeal for witnesses has been issued.
