Woman in her 60s threatened by female with knife when she answered door

Police have appealed for witnesses following the armed burglary.

POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland are appealing for witnesses following an armed burglary last night.

The incident happened in the Pound Street area of Larne at around 11pm.

It was reported that a woman in her 60s answered a knock to her door and was confronted by a female carrying a knife.

The woman tried to close the door but the female forced her way in and demanded money. The woman handed over a sum of cash to the female who then made off on foot in the direction of Meetinghouse Street.

The assailant is described as being approximately 5’ 7” tall and of slim build. She was wearing jeans, a blue top and a baseball cap. Police said the older woman was not injured but left shaken by her ordeal.

Detectives are appealing to anyone with any information to contact detectives in Larne on 101 or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, via independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
