Affected by the Bus Éireann strike? The #liftfairy can help

The kindness of strangers….

WITH MOST BUS Éireann services hit by the industrial action, the hashtag #liftfairy is trending in Ireland right now with people offering and looking for lifts to and from towns and cites around the country.

Some are using the hashtag to offer lifts:

Others are looking for a lift themselves:

And some are using it to say what a great idea it is:

Even if the industrial action ends – though there’s no sign of that happening at the moment – one Twitter user got in touch with us to suggest that the #liftfairy not be confined to when bus drivers go on strike.

“I’m often travelling the country in an empty car and would happily help someone avoid expensive train or bus fares especially now when people have so little extra cash. Could be a good way for drivers to offset some of their fuel costs also,” @HakuinMurphy said.
