IT’S DAY 18 of the campaign and there’s only four more days to go until voters take to the polling stations.

Here’s what happened today:

  • Micheál Martin joined RTÉ’s Morning Ireland for a leaders’ interview, promising investment in public services and saying he has “proven that I can lead through very difficult times”.
  • Simon Harris also made an appearance on RTÉ, joining Claire Byrne for an interview where he apologised again for his recent run-in with Cork care worker Charlotte Fallon.
  • Students asked voters on Grafton Street in Dublin to keep them in mind when voting on Friday, with the national students’ union advocating for ‘Vote Left, Transfer Left’.
  • In Dublin city centre today, Sinn Féin’s Eoin Ó Broin and Louise O’Reilly called on the government to release the latest homeless figures before polling day on Friday. Ó Broin said current homelessness figures were “scandalous and unacceptable”.
  • The Green Party were also out in the capital today, where Minister Catherine Martin announced commitments on arts and culture.
  • Labour launched their ‘vision for Dublin’ today, with leader Ivana Bacik and Aodhán Ó Ríordáin MEP out in the city centre with several Dublin Labour candidates.
  • Staying in Dublin, People Before Profit leader Richard Boyd Barrett TD and Gino Kenny TD outlined their plan for universal free healthcare.
  • Elsewhere in the city, Aontú launched its housing policy this afternoon.
  • Simon Harris, Micheál Martin and Mary Lou McDonald will spend the evening preparing, as the trio are set to join Prime Time hosts Miriam O’Callaghan and Sarah McInerney for a final Leaders’ Debate on RTÉ One tomorrow evening.
