Hundreds of plants seized at cannabis growhouse in Clare

The cannabis plants have an estimated street value of almost half a million euro.

HUNDREDS OF CANNABIS plants have been seized from a growhouse discovered at a home in Clare.

Gardaí searched a house at Breaffa in Carrigaholt on Wednesday as part of an ongoing investigation into cannabis in the area. At the house, they found 600 plants growing and evidence of another 500 harvested plants.

The drugs are believed to have a street value of close to €500,000, gardaí said.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination to be carried out by investigators.

No-one has been arrested in connection with the case.
