Galway gardaí discover 800 cannabis plants

The find is thought to be worth about €640,000.

GARDAÍ IN GALWAY have discovered about 800 cannabis plants and growing equipment at a property in Menlough this afternoon.

One man in his late 20s was arrested at the scene at Clovewood in Derrylissane. He is currently being detained at Galway Garda Station under Section Two of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

The find, which is worth about €640,000, was part of a planned search in the ongoing operation targeting the cultivation of cannabis in the Galway area. It involved members of the divisional drug unit, as well as local Gardaí.
