Gardaí still at scene of Cappagh Road standoff

Gardaí could not confirm if any arrests have been made.

A ROAD IN Finglas remains closed, as gardaí attend to a standoff between two groups.

Gardaí say that they have closed Cappagh Road at the junction of Ratoath Road in the Dublin town as two families continue to be engaged in a confrontation. The violence broke out late last night.

A Garda spokesperson told TheJournal.ie that the situation was ongoing and operational, so could not confirm any details of the operation or if there had been any arrests.

Photographer Sean Conroy tweeted this image from the scene:

Early reports suggested that a shooting had occurred, but gardaí confirmed last night that those reports were wide of the mark.
