Man in his 30s killed after his car hit a tree

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

A MAN IN his 30s has died after the car he was driving hit a tree.

The incident occurred last night at Cloonkeenkerrill, Colemanstown, Ballinasloe in Galway around 10.40pm.

The man was fatally injured when his car hit a tree.

His body has been removed to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe for a post mortem examination.

The road is closed to facilitate a forensic collision investigation of the area and is expected to remain closed for a number of hours.  Diversions are in place in the area.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact Ballinasloe Garda Station on 090-9631890, the Garda confidential telephone line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
