Man killed in Dublin city centre crash

The pedestrian was struck by two cars on Parnell Square West during the night and died in the Mater Hospital.

A PEDESTRIAN IN his 50s has died after he was hit by two cars on Parnell Square West in Dublin city centre overnight.

The accident happened close to the junction with Parnell Street, near O’Connell Street, at around 12.15am.

Gardaí say the man was seriously injured when he was struck by two cars. He was taken to the nearby Mater Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The drivers of the two cars were not injured in the collision.

The road was closed while Garda investigators carried out an examination of the scene but has since reopened.

Gardaí have called for any witnesses to contact Store Street Garda Station on 01 – 666 8000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
