DOES YOUR OTHER half love to talk politics? Well, then they will appreciate this alternative Valentine’s Day card this year.

Moving away from the hallmark clichés, Siobhan Carroll has designed a set of genius cards which feature some of Ireland’s best known political figures – Charlie, Bertie, and Enda, of course.

Giving an old Irish backhanded compliment, Carroll prints the cards in full colour, “on the best quality card stock that taxpayer’s money can buy,” she said.

Charlie also comes with his very own brown envelope in which to send your illicit message. And, if you really want to sweeten the deal, you could even throw in some money and tell them to buy themselves something pretty.

She’s even sent one to Aiden Gillen, who played Charlie Haughey in the RTÉ drama recently.

But it’s not just for Valentine’s Day. There are cards with a ‘Happy Bertie’ message from the former Taoiseach. Inside message reads: “We all partied.”

There is also a farewell care from Enda, saying: ”Sorry You’re Leaving.” Inside message reads: “…but it’s not the Enda the world.”

Carroll told TheJournal.ie that she has plans for a lot of goods, but said the cards are a nice place to start. She’s hoping to make tote bags and t-shirts.

Operating under the name Punny Dreadful she says she hopes to have an online store up soon and have more products in the pipeline.

Carroll is selling the cards at €2.50 each, or all three for €6. If you would like to place an order please email punnydreadful@gmail.com.
