Man killed in stabbing in Carlow house

Gardaí and emergency services are on the scene.

A MAN HAS been killed in a stabbing incident in Carlow.

At around 1.30pm this afternoon gardaí were called to a house on Frederick Avenue in the town after a report of a man having been stabbed.

On arrival, gardai discovered a 46-year-old man seriously injured. He was later pronounced dead.

A man in his 20s was arrested a short time later. He is currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Carlow Garda Station.

The area has been preserved for a technical examination and the offices of the State Pathologist have been notified.
