Man arrested over Carlow stabbing released without charge

A file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A MAN IN his 20s who was arrested after the stabbing to death of a man in Carlow has been released without charge.

The man was arrested after gardaí were called to a house on Frederick Avenue in the town on Wednesday. There, they found a 46-year-old man dead.

The man was taken to Carlow Garda Station, where he was held until late last night.

He was released without charge and a file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

It is believed that the deceased man, who has been named locally as father-of-one Marcus ‘Murt’ Brennan knew the younger man.

A post-mortem carried out yesterday will determine whether the investigation will be upgraded to murder.
