Coast Guard helicopter called out - as woman suffers head injuries on Carrauntoohil

The woman is believed to have suffered serious injuries after slipping and hitting her head on a rock.

THE WATERFORD COAST Guard helicopter was at the scene of a hiking accident this afternoon on Carrauntoohil - after a woman slipped and fell in the Hag’s Glen area.

The fifty-year-old woman hit her head on a rock, and is understood to have suffered serious injury.

A doctor, who was also climbing the country’s highest peak, has been treating her at the scene.

The Rescue 117 chopper was sent, and was coming in to land at the peak’s twin-lakes area – close to the Hag’s Glen – shortly before 5pm.
