POLICE IN THE UK searching for a mother and her newborn baby have found the body of the mum, Charlotte Bevan.

In the past few minutes they confirmed they found the body of a newborn:

Avon and Somerset detectives confirmed late last night that they had found the body of a woman in the Avon Gorge in Bristol.

In a tweet this afternoon, police confirmed it was Charlotte:

Charlotte went missing four days after giving birth to her daughter, Zaani Tiana.

In today’s statement, police said that an intensive search operation is still underway in the Avon Gorge area involving police, Avon Search and Rescue, mountain rescue volunteers and the police helicopter.

Yesterday, Charlotte’s partner Pascal Malbrouck sent her a heartbreaking message through a public police statement.

“I miss you. The last few days have been amazing and I want many more of these,” he told her.

Please come home. I am waiting for you. You are welcome home at time even if it’s not straight away. Please just let us know you are ok.

Her mother, Rachel Fortune, added: “I love you. We have really enjoyed seeing you being such a good mother – let’s go forward with that. We all love you very much and just want to know you are ok.”

Police said yesterday that reports from the hospital indicated that Charlotte was a good, loving mother who was due to be discharged in a few days.

“They had no concerns about her ability to look after her daughter,” according to officer Simon Crisp.

“We are concerned for the welfare of Charlotte and Zaani Tiana because of the manner in which they left the hospital – it was abrupt and unexpected. She has also not been in contact with any family members as far as we are aware. Clearly, weather conditions are cold and we believe she left hospital without warm clothing.”

Police released CCTV footage of her leaving the hospital with Zaani Tiana at about 8.30pm Tuesday.

Reports in England indicate the mother may have stopped taking medication for depression after childbirth.
