AN OPERATION INVOLVING armed gardaí supported by the army surrounding a house in north Donegal has ended without an arrest.

As part of the search for Kieran McLaughlin, who is wanted for questioning in relation to the murder of a man in Derry city on Thursday, gardaí sealed off the premises last night but a search found it to be unoccupied.

Gardaí confirmed this morning that the operation at the house in Burnfoot north Donegal ended at about 4am. The town is on the Inisowen peninsula and is about 3.5 kilometers form the border with Co. Derry.

On Thursday night PSNI officers in the north took the unusual step of releasing of a photograph of McLaughlin and warning the public not to approach him.

He is wanted following the murder of Barry McCrory who was shot  dead in the Shipquay Street area of Derry city on Thursday morning.
