US congressman under fire for filming video message inside Auschwitz Memorial

He says in the video: “This is why Homeland Security must be squared away, why our military must be invincible.”

A US CONGRESSMAN has come under fire for sending a ‘message to America’ from inside the Auschwitz Memorial.

Clay Higgins recorded the video while on a trip to the site in Poland, which is where over 1.1m Jews were murdered during the Holocaust.

In the five-minute-long video, Higgins narrates the story of what happened to people brought to Auschwitz, while he is standing on railroad tracks.

“A great sense of dread comes over you in this place,” he says, while looking at a huge pile of shoes belonging to victims.

The video was released the day before US Independence Day.

However, the people who run the Auschwitz Memorial and museum were critical of his video, tweeting:

They also pointed out that people are asked to maintain silence at Auschwitz, out of respect for Holocaust victims.

In one part of the video, while standing near huge gas ovens in which people’s bodies were incinerated, Higgins says:

This is why Homeland Security must be squared away, why our military must be invincible.

Towards the end of the video, Higgins says:

“This is why we must remember these things. Man’s inhumanity to man can be quite shocking. The world is a smaller place now than it was in World War 2. The United States is more accessible to terror like this, horror like this; it’s hard to walk away from gas chambers and ovens without a very sober feeling of commitment, unwavering commitment to make damn sure that the United States of America is protected from the evils of the world.”

The Times Picayne in New Orleans points out that the video was posted on Saturday (1 July) to the YouTube channel of Lee Johnson Media, A Conservative Podcast looking at America of Today!

Higgins hasn’t commented publicly on the video.
