Updated 7.50pm

GARDAÍ HAVE ISSUED an appeal for information following the death of a man in a shooting at a housing estate in Clondalkin, Dublin, in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí responded to reports of a shooting and discovered a man in his 20s with gunshot wounds, at 12.20am today. The incident occurred at Harelawn Green in Clondalkin.

The area was immediately sealed off and the man was removed to Tallaght Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

A black Vauxhall Vectra car, which was later discovered on fire on Collinstown Crescent, also in Clondalkin, is believed to have been used in the incident and three men were seen running from the vehicle. The car and the surrounding area has also been closed off for technical examination.

Garadí are today appealing for witnesses to contact them.

“Harelawn Green is particularly busy area there is a pub and apartments nearby,” they said in a statement.

They are also interested in the movements of the black Vauxhall Vectra, prior to it being abandoned at Collinstown Crescent. The registration is 99 DL 7997 and the car had tinted windows.

Anyone with information can contact the incident room at Ronanstown Garda Station on 01 666 7700.

A post-mortem is due to be carried out later today and gardaí said the results will determine the direction of the investigation.
