Commuting liveblog: The Luas strike is still ongoing but traffic is holding up well

Here’s all the traffic, transport and weather news you need this morning.

IT’S FRIDAY: TIME to get through today and straight to the weekend.

We’ll be with you until 9am this morning, bringing you all the latest traffic, transport and weather news.

On the roads, the main approach to Dublin City from Swords and the the Airport has heavy delays because of a crash on the Drumcondra Road before the Skylon Hotel.

Traffic is moving but it’s backed up to Collins Avenue.

In Kildare, there’s debris on the road on the M7 at junction 13 so take note before you start your journey.

It’s the fourth day of Luas stoppages, the second in two days.

Remember that if you’re using alternative transport your Luas ticket is not valid. Also allow extra time for your journey because of pressure on other services.

Weatherwise, it is damp in many places after some overnight rain but at the moment it’s relatively clear with only sporadic outbursts of rain and drizzle.

It’s mild too with highest temperatures of between 8 to 10 degrees.

John’s Road at South Circular Road on approach to Dublin City is heavy. Traffic is not moving.

In Cork, AA Roadwatch is reporting minor delays on the N8 Dublin Road inbound approaching the Dunkettle Interchange.

Otherwise, it’s a quiet morning.

Traffic building in Dublin City and on approach with delays on the North Quays from Wolfe Tone Quay to Bachelors Walk.

It’s also busy inbound on the Dundrum Bypass and the nearby Goatstown Road.

There’ll be a heavy garda presence in north inner city Dublin. later this morning for the funeral of Eddie Hutch Snr who was murdered earlier this month.

There will be traffic restrictions around the Our Lady of Lourdes church on Sean McDermott Street
