A dull start this morning with patches of drizzle, mist and fog. However, Met Éireann forecasts that it will become mainly dry as the day goes on.

AA Roadwatch is warning motorists of reports of fog patches across parts of the midlands.

It’s a wet start to the day in Galway, Limerick and Waterford. The same can be said for the towns of Roscommon, Carlow, Wexford and Tralee.

Motorists are being advised to drive with care and be sure to use fog lights in affected areas and turn them off when no longer needed.

Flooding remains an issue on a number of roads across the country following the heavy rain experienced in December and the New Year. AA Roadwatch reports that the following roads are still affected by flooding:

CLARE: The Gort/ Corofin Rd (R460) is impassable at Lough Bunny. Use an alternative route.

GALWAY: There is a minor diversion in place on the N18 Limerick/ Galway Rd at Labane due to flooding on the route.

KILKENNY: Bleech Rd in Kilkenny City remains closed following flooding.

SLIGO: The Tubbercurry/ Boyle Rd (R294) remains closed outside Tubbercurry at Oghambaun and Quarryfield due to flooding. Local diversions are in place.

ROSCOMMON: The Tulsk/ Ballintober Rd (R367) is closed on the Tulsk side of Castleplunket due to flooding. The Ballintober side of Castleplunket is passable with care.

MONAGHAN: The Ardee Rd (Old N2) remains impassable outside Carrickmacross following flooding.

Traffic is already looking busy at Drumcondra Road in Dublin this morning.

In Cork, it’s busy approaching the Dunkettle Interchange on the N8 Dublin Road and on the N40 South Ring Road. There are southbound delays on the N28 Ringaskiddy Road at Carrs Hill.

In Galway, there are the standard delays travelling into Galway Technology Park on Ballybrit Crescent. But apart from that, traffic is moving well around the city so far this morning.

Fog is also being reported in areas in Meath and Louth this morning:

A crash has been reported in Cork this morning. It happened on the N25 Waterford/Cork road westbound at the turn off for Little Island.

It’s understood that the French carmaker will ask the owners of 15,000 of its cars and vans to return them to garages for engine checks.

Another crash has been reported this morning, this time in Dublin.

LiveDrive says there has been a crash on the N7 eastbound just before J4 Rathcoole.

It’s believed that the collision has blocked the right lane and partially blocked the middle lane.

Irish Rail has announced that its 5.45am Sligo/Connolly service will be delayed by up to 15 minutes this morning due to speed restrictions caused by flooding.

The collision on the N7/Naas Road inbound before J4 Rathcoole has now been cleared.

However, traffic remains slow on approach from J7 Kill.

AA Roadwatch is also reporting that further inbound, traffic is very busy from J2 Kingswood to the J9 Red Cow/M50 Interchange.

In Cork, it’s heavy approaching the Dunkettle Interchange on the N8 Dublin Road and on the N40 South Ring Road from J9 Bloomfield.

AA Roadwatch is reporting delays both ways on the N28 Ringaskiddy Rd between Maryborough Hill and Carrs Hill. There are inbound delays on the Lwr Glanmire Rd past the Tivoli Flyover. It’s busy both ways over Christy Ring Bridge and on Lavitt’s Quay.

In Galway it’s busy now on the N17 Tuam Rd southbound heading through Loughgeorge and again through Claregalway.

There are some delays approaching the Bothar na dTreabh jct and it’s slow on the Headford Rd inbound approaching the Kirwan roundabout.

There are also delays on the Dublin Road inbound between Martin roundabout and GMIT.

In Antrim Station Road in Greenisland is closed between Upper Station Road and Knockfergus Park due to an incident. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area.
