Commuting liveblog: Oil spill in Dublin and foggy conditions nationwide

The morning will be foggy and cloudy in most parts of the country, with outbreaks of rain in the northeast, east and southeast.

Here’s the bright and cheerful view from our office in Dublin:

Highest temperatures will be between 10 to 14 degrees, according to Met Éireann.

The weather might be grim, but there’s at least some good news for Luas users today:

Take care if you’re passing through Longford, Tullamore or Monaghan Town this morning:

If you use Dublin Bus, remember that the Hawkins St stop for routes 15, 27, 27x and 151 has been pushed south to facilitate Luas works.

Traffic’s already heavy on the M50 at Lucan:

It’s also busy on the N11 in Wicklow:

Traffic looks set to slow even further on the N11 following a reported collision there:

Dublin city centre still looks calm, but the Grand Canal is heavy.

Cork is slow along the city quays and further north approaching the Dunkettle Interchange.

In Galway, meanwhile, traffic is building on Headford Rd and Tuam Rd.

There’s been a crash in the bus lane of Dublin’s Wolfe Tone Quay:

Expect traffic to get even heavier approaching Cork’s Dunkettle Interchange:

Traffic signals are out of action at the bridge on Londonbridge Rd in Sandymount, according to Dublin City Council. A technician is en route, but be careful on approach.

That fog looks set to lift – if you’re in the midlands.

A crash on the N20 in Cork has also been cleared:

Traffic is still busy on the M50 around the Red Cow:

There’s been a collision on the Ringaskiddy Rd in Cork:

A breakdown has also been reported in Cork at the Tivoli flyover on the Lower Glanmire Rd inbound, according to AA Roadwatch.

Look out for the fuel spill on the N11 in Dublin:
