Army make safe device found at apartment block in Dublin

An Army Bomb Disposal Team carried out a controlled explosion last night on a device which was found in the Killinarden Heights area of Tallaght.

AN ARMY BOMB Disposal Team have carried out a controlled explosion late last night on an improvised explosive device in the Killinarden Heights area of Tallaght, in Dublin 24.

The area was cordoned off with several residents evacuated for their own safety.

Having received a call from Gardaí, the team arrived at 9.25pm. The device, which was located outside the main entrance to a three-storey apartment block, was rendered safe by way of a controlled explosion.

The scene itself was declared safe at 10.55pm.

The device, which is currently being examined at a military location, will be handed over to Gardaí in order to aid them in their investigation.
