Man dies in road accident in Cavan

The accident happened yesterday evening at Station Road, Cootehill.

A MAN HAS died after the car he was a passenger in collided with a wall yesterday evening.

The accident happened at Station Road, Cootehill, in Co Cavan at about 6pm.

The man, aged in his early 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Cavan General Hospital for a post mortem examination.

The driver of the car and a second passenger, both also aged in their 20s, were taken to hospital, with the driver taken to Cavan General and the passenger airlifted to St James’s Hospital in Dublin.

The road remains closed pending a Garda forensic investigation.
