Man in Cork critically injured in altercation outside pub

The man received a serious head injury and remains in critical condition in Cork University Hospital.

GARDAÍ HAVE CONFIRMED a man in his 50s is in critical condition after being injured in an altercation outside a pub in Cork in the early hours of this morning.

The incident took place outside the Red Cove Inn, Mahon, in Cork city at around 12.30am and Gardaí say the man received a serious head injury.

He was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment and it is understood he remains in critical condition.

The scene was preserved by a garda technical team and detective are appealing for information from locals in the area. A number of witnesses to the incident have already come forward.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone with information on the incident to contact Anglesea Street Garda Station on 021-4522000.
