Man rescued from cliff ledge after falling into the sea

The man managed to get himself back onto rocks.

A MAN HAS been rescued after he fell into the sea off Cork.

The man fell into the sea off Castletownbere in Cork, but was able to get himself back onto a set of rocks.

However, while he was on the rocks he became inaccessible to rescue crews from the Coast Guard and RNLI, who called for help from the Coast Guard 115 helicopter.

Conditions were described as being “quite challenging” but a ground unit was able to reach the man in what the RNLI called a “skilful manoeuvre”.

He is being treated for hypothermia in Tralee General Hospital.
