Two teens remain in serious condition after road crash in Cork

The driver of the van they were travelling in was killed in the collision with a tractor.

TWO TEENAGERS REMAIN in serious condition in hospital this morning after a road crash in which a man in his 30s died yesterday afternoon.

The crash occurred on the R522 approximately 3 miles from Buttevant in Co Cork. The van, driven by a man in his 30s and carrying his teenage daughter and a teenage boy, collided with a tractor that was transporting sludge.

It is reported this morning that the man’s partner was travelling in a car behind the van and came across the aftermath of the crash. The van driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

His daughter and the teenage boy were both airlifted to Cork University Hospital where their conditions are understood to be serious.

The driver of the tractor was not physically harmed.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact Mallow Garda Station 022 31450 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
