Woman in her 40s found dead on street in Cork city centre

She was discovered on Lower Oliver Plunkett Street just after 11am.

GARDAÍ IN CORK are investigating after the body of a woman was found in the city just after 11am today.

The woman – in her 40s – was discovered on Lower Oliver Plunkett Street.

It is understood that she was been sleeping rough, was known to homeless services and she was found near a local homeless shelter.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, and her body will be taken to a local hospital where a full post-mortem will take place. Gardaí are not treating her death as suspicious.

Gardaí remain at the scene, and local diversions are in place.
