VIDEO: Watch the Costa Concordia being pulled upright

The cruise ship was pulled upright during a 19-hour operation.

IT WAS A remarkable feat of engineering, but thanks to a 19-hour operation the Costa Concordia was pulled upright last night.

We’ve already shown you the operation in pics, but here’s the latest timelapse video to emerge of the cruise ship being lifted upright off the Tuscany coast.

The side of the ship had suffered significant damage while it lay submerged over the past 20 months.

Thirty two people were killed after the cruise ship ran aground. Two bodies were never recovered and it is hoped they will be found now that the ship is upright.
