He was remanded in custody until next Thursday at Cloverhill District Court.

A 35-YEAR-OLD MAN has appeared before Bray district court after being arrested in connection with four counts of assault causing harm in Wicklow last night.

Four children, aged three to 11, were found injured at a home in Blainroe, Co Wicklow, yesterday evening just after 7.30pm.

Stephen Harnett of Kilpoole Upper, Blainroe, Wicklow appeared before Judge Gerard Furlong and was charged with Section 3 of the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997.

Harnett, who was wearing a grey tracksuit and t-shirt, sat shaking and holding his head in his hands before the judge appeared.

Neil Doyle from Wicklow Garda Station told the judge that Harnett was brought to Wicklow Garda Station after 7.30 last night and that he made no reply when charged.

Superintendent Paul Hogan made the application to remand Harnett is custody.

There was no application for bail and legal aid was granted by the judge.

Harnett was remanded in custody at Cloverhill District Court until next Thursday at 10.30am.

Judge Furlong said the defendant should attain all psychiatric and medical assistance upon arrival at the place of detention.
