Armed robbers wrestle with An Post employee before fleeing with cash

Two men were arrested after the raid yesterday.

TWO MEN HAVE been arrested after an armed robbery in Wexford in which the raiders wrestled with an An Post staff member and stole cash from the till.

The incident happened in Courtown yesterday afternoon at about 4.20pm when the raiders entered the post office wearing gloves and what appeared to be a firearm.

They threatened a female staff member and demanded cash.

After a struggle with the woman behind the counter, the men then removed the cash drawer and fled with a small quantity of cash.

Gardaí responding to the raid then arrested one man a short distance away and recovered a firearm. A second man was arrested a short time later.

Both men, one in his 20s and one in his teens, are currently being held at Enniscorthy garda station and can be detained for up to 72 hours.
