Elderly man dies after his car crashed with a tractor and feeder

The driver of the tractor was uninjured.

A MAN IN his 70s has died after a collision between his car and a tractor pulling a feeder.

The horrific crash happened in Castleblaney yesterday evening at about 5.45pm.

The vehicles collided at Cooltrimegish on the Ballybay to Carrickmacross Road about six miles from Ballybay.

The driver of the car was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where he was later pronounced dead.

The 54-year-old tractor driver was uninjured.

The road remains closed for forensic examinations and diversions are in place. Gardaí in Monaghan have asked for witnesses to contact them.
